Heating mantles give flameless heating of round-bottom flasks for college and university chemistry departments, pharmacy and technical institutes, and senior-school labs running distillation practicals. Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, India, supplies this Heating Mantle range. The mantle cradles the flask in a heated, insulated bowl, so heat reaches the glass evenly with no open flame near the contents, which is why mantles are widely used for distillation and reflux set-ups and when working with flammable solvents.

Frequently Asked Questions

What flask sizes do the listed mantles cover?
Two models are named by flask size, 250 ml and 1000 ml. For the other models, tell us the flask volume you use and the matching model will be confirmed with your quotation.

When should we use a heating mantle instead of a hot plate?
Use a mantle for round-bottom flasks, especially in distillation, reflux or solvent work, because it wraps the flask and avoids an open flame. A hot plate suits flat-bottomed beakers and conical flasks.

Are there mantles that also stir?
Yes. The Heating Mantle With Stirrer (Rota Mantle) and the Digital Heating Mantle With Stirrer combine heating with stirring of the flask contents.

Is there an option for a whole class to heat flasks at once?
The Multi Position Heating Mantle provides several heating positions in one unit, which helps in group practicals; single mantles can also be ordered in sets.

What details should a heating mantle enquiry include?
Model name or code, flask size, quantity, mains voltage at your site and the delivery destination.

Power rating options150 W, 200 W, 300 W, 450 W, 600 W
Supplied withExternal temperature probe, support rods and clamps

Typical Use

The flask sits in the upper heating tier while the motor below drives the stirring, so the contents are mixed and warmed evenly at once. Placing the external probe in the liquid, through a side neck or adapter, lets the PID controller hold the sample itself at the set temperature instead of simply heating the element, which matters for temperature-sensitive syntheses, dissolutions and extractions. Constant stirring also spreads heat through viscous mixtures and helps reduce bumping during reflux or distillation.

Choose the mantle size that matches your flask so the vessel sits snugly on the element, raise stirring speed gradually after the flask is clamped, and use the supplied support rods and clamps to hold the flask and any condenser securely. Let the mantle cool before removing the flask. For labs comparing chemistry lab equipment in India, this model suits users who want set-point control and stirring from a single bench footprint.

Heating Mantle

Product Code : SLE/LHM/02

Heating Mantle (Product Code: SLE/LHM/02) is a general-purpose mantle for heating flasks and other glassware evenly, without an open flame. The vessel rests directly on a flexible, insulated heating element anchored in glass fabric inside a rolled aluminium body, so it is warmed uniformly without substantially increasing the risk of the glass shattering. An energy regulator controls output up to 350 °C, and the mantle is offered in sizes from 50 ml to 5000 ml. It is made by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, a laboratory equipment manufacturer in India supplying schools, colleges and industry here and in international markets.

Specifications

Power rating options60 W, 150 W, 200 W, 300 W, 450 W, 600 W
Suitable vesselsGlassware vessels such as flasks, placed directly on the heating element

Typical Use

Heating mantles are the usual heat source for simple and fractional distillation, reflux and solvent removal, especially where flammable liquids make a naked flame unwelcome. The flask nests in the glass-fabric element, which wraps heat around its lower surface rather than concentrating it at one hot spot, so the contents warm steadily and the glass is spared the thermal shock a direct flame can cause. The energy regulator sets how much power reaches the element; start low, watch the liquid, and increase in steps until the boil or reflux rate is where you want it.

Pick the mantle size that matches your flask so the glass sits in full contact with the element, never switch it on empty, and support the flask and any condenser independently with a stand and clamps. Wipe up spills only after the unit has cooled, keeping liquids out of the glass fabric. With eight capacities to choose from, a single model can cover everything from micro-scale work to large batches, which helps labs standardise their distillation apparatus in India and abroad.

Digital Heating Mantles

Product Code : SLE/LHM/03

Digital Heating Mantles (Product Code: SLE/LHM/03) bring set-point temperature control to mantle heating of round bottom flasks. A PID microprocessor controller works from an external temperature probe to give precise regulation, while the flexible, insulated heating element anchored in glass fabric inside a rolled aluminium body warms the flask uniformly without substantially increasing the risk of glass shattering. The element can reach 350 °C, and the external probe, support rods and clamps are included. It is made by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, a laboratory equipment supplier in India serving institutions at home and in international markets.

Specifications

ParameterDetail
TypeDigital heating mantle
BodyRolled aluminium
Heating elementFlexible, insulated, anchored securely in glass fabric
Temperature controlPID microprocessor controller with external temperature probe
Heating element temperatureUp to 350 °C
Suitable vesselsRound bottom glassware vessels such as flasks
Supplied withExternal temperature probe, support rods and clamps

Typical Use

This mantle is chosen when a procedure calls for a defined temperature rather than just “more” or “less” heat — controlled reflux, gentle solvent removal, or distillation of mixtures that should not be overheated. With the probe placed in the liquid, the PID controller adjusts power continuously to hold the sample at the chosen value and keep overshoot small, something a simple energy regulator cannot do. Pharmacy college lab equipment lists and research groups often favour this kind of control for extractions and preparations where repeatability matters.

For best results, insert the probe through a side neck so its tip sits in the liquid without touching the glass, and mount the flask and condenser with the supplied support rods and clamps before switching on. Set a target a little below the boiling point for slow evaporation, or just above it for steady reflux. Let the mantle cool before moving the flask, and keep liquids away from the glass-fabric element.

Heating Mantle With Stirrer (Rota Mantle)

Product Code : SLE/LHM/04

Heating Mantle With Stirrer (Rota Mantle) (Product Code: SLE/LHM/04) is a two-tier unit that stirs the contents of a flask while heating it uniformly: the upper part holds the heating element and the lower part houses the stirring motor. Heat output is set with an energy regulator, and step-less speed control varies stirring smoothly up to 1200 rpm. Offered from 50 ml to 5000 ml, it suits teaching and routine laboratory work where mixing and heating have to happen together. It is made by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, a chemistry lab instruments supplier to institutions in India and international markets.

Specifications

ParameterDetail
TypeHeating mantle with stirrer (Rota Mantle)
ConstructionTwo-tier: heating element in the upper part, stirring motor in the lower part

Capacity options50 ml, 100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, 1000 ml, 2000 ml, 3000 ml, 5000 ml
Power rating options60 W, 150 W, 200 W, 300 W, 450 W, 600 W

Typical Use

Stirring while heating keeps solids suspended and stops them settling onto the hot glass, so the Rota Mantle is a natural fit for dissolving slow-to-dissolve solids, recrystallisation, and reflux of mixtures that contain a solid or two immiscible liquids. College practicals such as ester preparation or saponification benefit from the even temperature that constant mixing gives. Because the energy regulator sets power rather than a temperature, a thermometer held in the flask is the easiest way to follow what the contents are actually doing.

Start the stirring before turning up the heat so warmth spreads from the first minute, raise the speed gradually to avoid splashing, and clamp the flask independently so vibration cannot move it off the element. Select the capacity that matches your flask for full contact. For departments equipping several benches, the wide size range makes it practical lab equipment for college teaching labs, from small-scale student preparations to larger demonstration batches.

Typical applicationsDistillation, extraction and reflux

Typical Use

A multi-position mantle earns its bench space in two situations. In teaching laboratories, several students or pairs can run the same reflux or distillation side by side from one unit, so a whole practical group finishes together. In analytical and research work, the separate controllers let an analyst run replicate extractions in parallel, or compare the same preparation at different heat settings without needing a row of individual mantles and extension leads.

Fit each flask with its own reflux condenser or distillation head, fix the glassware to the supplied support rods with the clamps, and set every position individually before switching on. Leave unused positions switched off, keep the vents unobstructed so the housing stays cool, and route coolant tubing so it cannot touch the heated flasks. Checking that each flask matches the position's capacity ensures full contact with the element and even heating.

Heating Mantle 1000ml

Product Code : SLE/LHM/06

Heating Mantle 1000ml (Product Code: SLE/LHM/06) is an electric bench heater that holds a 1000 ml flask in its heating well and warms the glass evenly from below and around the sides, without an open flame. Chemistry teachers, college demonstrators and laboratory technicians use it for boiling, refluxing and distilling liquids at bench scale, where a steady, controllable heat source matters more than speed. It is made by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab) in Ambala, India, and forms part of our chemistry lab equipment in India for schools, colleges and working laboratories.

Specifications

ParameterDetail
Flask capacity1000 ml
Supply220 V, 50 Hz

BaseFour rubber feet for stability during use
Exterior sizeΦ 260 mm × 200 mm
Net weight3.5 kg
Gross weight4 kg
Packing size290 × 290 × 220 mm

Typical Use

The 1000 ml size suits class demonstrations and practical work where a litre-scale batch is heated for a long period: refluxing a reaction mixture under a condenser, running a simple or fractional distillation, concentrating an extract or bringing an aqueous solution to a controlled boil. Because the flask sits inside the mantle rather than over a burner, heat reaches a larger area of the glass and there is no flame near flammable vapours. Laboratories assembling laboratory distillation apparatus in India often pair this mantle with a round bottom flask, a condenser and a retort stand to make a complete, stable set-up.

For best results, choose a flask that fills the well so the glass is in full contact with the mantle, clamp the flask neck to a stand so the mantle only supports its weight, and turn the analogue knob up in steps while watching the heating lamp and the liquid. Add anti-bumping granules before boiling, never switch the mantle on empty at a high setting, and let it cool on its rubber feet before moving it or wiping the surface.

Manufacturer

This mantle is produced by Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, the company behind the ScienceLab brand, from its base in Ambala, Haryana. Our team supplies heating equipment and glassware to teaching and research laboratories across India and international markets, and can advise on matching mantle sizes to the flasks you already hold. Heating Mantle 250ml

Product Code : SLE/LHM/07

Heating Mantle 250ml (Product Code: SLE/LHM/07) is a compact, controlled heating mantle for flasks of 250 ml, built around a woven glass fibre mat with a nichrome wire element inside a coated steel case. It gives students and technicians a flame-free way to warm, boil or reflux small volumes on an ordinary bench, which makes it a practical piece of school chemistry lab equipment in India for practical classes and small preparative work. The unit is manufactured by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala.

Specifications

ParameterDetail
Flask capacity250 ml
TypeControlled heating mantle
Case constructionSteel, with chemical resistant coating
MantleWoven glass fibre mat
Heating elementNichrome wire
InsulationMoulded silica powder
Element temperatureUp to 450 °C (max.)
Power supply220 V AC, 80 W

Typical Use

A 250 ml mantle is the size most student groups need for short experiments: preparing a small ester under reflux, distilling a few tens of millilitres of a mixture, determining a boiling point range or dissolving a solid in hot solvent before recrystallisation. The glass fibre mat wraps heat around the lower part of the flask, so small volumes heat evenly and there is less risk of a hot spot cracking the glass than with a gauze and burner. Its modest 80 W rating also means several units can run side by side on one bench.

Seat the flask fully in the mantle, support the neck with a clamp, and bring the control up gradually while watching for steady boiling. The coated case resists occasional splashes, but spills should be wiped off promptly once the unit is switched off and cool; never pour liquid directly into the mantle. As a laboratory equipment supplier in India, we can advise on matching glassware so every student station is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the heating element made of?
The element is nichrome wire set in a woven glass fibre mat, insulated with moulded silica powder and housed in a steel case with a chemical resistant coating.

What temperature can the element reach?
The element temperature goes up to 450 °C maximum. The liquid in the flask will be cooler than the element, depending on the control setting and the volume being heated.

How much power does it use?
It is rated at 80 W on a 220 V AC supply, low enough to run several units on a shared bench circuit. For other supply voltages, please ask us before ordering.

Can I use a smaller or larger flask in it?
It is sized for 250 ml flasks. Using a flask that does not match the well leaves gaps or overloads the mat, so pick the mantle that matches your flask size.

How should I clean it?
Switch off, unplug and let it cool, then wipe the coated case with a damp cloth. Keep liquids out of the glass fibre mat; if a flask breaks inside, stop using the mantle and contact us for advice.

Is a calibration certificate available?
Calibration certificate availability should be discussed with our team when you send your enquiry.

Do you supply sets for a whole class or for export?
Yes, we quote for multiple units for institutions across India and international markets; tell us the number of student stations and any glassware you want included.
