In the chemistry lab, ammonium hydroxide is the usual source of dilute ammonia for salt analysis. Added drop by drop to a test solution, it precipitates many metal hydroxides, and an excess dissolves some of them again – copper(II), for example, turns a deep blue. That behaviour makes it a core bottle in any salt analysis kit for schools, and students also use it to show that ammonia turns red litmus blue and forms white ammonium chloride fumes near hydrochloric acid.
Work with the bottle in a well-ventilated room or a chemical fume cupboard, because the solution gives off ammonia gas with a sharp, irritating smell. Keep the cap tight after use, store it away from acids, and dilute it with water before handing it to students. Read the supplied MSDS before first use and file it with the lab’s chemical records.
Ammonium Hydroxide is sourced and supplied by Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, which trades as ScienceLab from Ambala, Haryana. Because the company also supplies glassware and apparatus, a school or college can place one order for a complete wet-chemistry practical instead of dealing with several vendors. Read more about the company on our company profile page.

Its most familiar classroom use is limewater: shake a little calcium hydroxide with distilled water, let the excess settle and filter off the clear solution. When carbon dioxide from breath, a burning candle or an acid–carbonate reaction is bubbled through it, the limewater turns milky as insoluble calcium carbonate forms. The same test appears in biology respiration practicals and in chemistry gas-identification lessons.
Teachers also use calcium hydroxide to demonstrate neutralisation and to show how a sparingly soluble base behaves in water. Wear eye protection while weighing the solid, because it is caustic, and keep the pack closed so it does not slowly absorb carbon dioxide from the air. Stock it next to the rest of your school chemistry lab equipment so limewater can be made fresh before each class.
The Calcium Hydroxide on this page is a sourced chemical. Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, trading as ScienceLab, supplies it from Ambala, Haryana, together with the apparatus schools need for gas tests. Buyers can learn more about the company on our company profile page.

| Product code | SCL366/083 |
| Supplied by | Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, India |
Chloroform does not mix with water and is much denser, so in a separating funnel it settles as the lower layer. Teachers use this to demonstrate liquid–liquid extraction: shaking an aqueous iodine solution with chloroform draws the iodine into the organic layer, which turns violet. It also dissolves fats, oils and plant pigments, so it appears in lipid-extraction exercises and in some solvent mixtures for chromatography.
Chloroform is harmful if inhaled or absorbed through the skin, so dispense it only inside a chemical fume cupboard, wear chemical-resistant gloves and goggles, and keep it away from flames and hot surfaces. Store it in a tightly closed amber glass bottle away from light and heat, and collect used solvent for proper disposal rather than pouring it down the sink. Many schools reserve it for teacher demonstrations or senior classes, and the supplied MSDS gives the full precautions.
Chloroform is sourced and supplied by Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, which trades as ScienceLab from Ambala, Haryana. We dispatch it with its MSDS and can quote it together with the separating funnels, amber bottles and fume cupboards it is used with. Learn more about the company on our company profile page.

Calcium chloride readily absorbs moisture, which is why its anhydrous form is packed into drying tubes and desiccators to keep gases and samples dry. In qualitative analysis, adding sodium carbonate solution to a calcium chloride solution gives a white precipitate of calcium carbonate. A flame test shows the orange-red colour of calcium, a standard step in any flame test kit for schools.
Dissolving the anhydrous salt in water releases noticeable heat, so it doubles as a quick demonstration of an exothermic process. Its solutions also freeze below the freezing point of pure water, which links neatly to lessons on colligative properties and road de-icing. Because the salt pulls water from the air, reseal the pack straight after use, store it in a dry cupboard and wear eye protection when handling concentrated solutions.
Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, known to customers as ScienceLab, supplies this Calcium Chloride from Ambala, Haryana. It is a bought-in analytical reagent that we pack into orders together with the drying tubes, absorption towers and glassware it is used with. | Product code | SCL372/086 |
| Supplied by | Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, India |
In the science lab, paraffin wax is a clean, predictable material for showing a change of state: students warm a sample in a water bath, note the temperature as it softens and melts, then plot a cooling curve as it solidifies again. The same wax makes simple candles for combustion experiments, and physics teachers use small blobs of it to fix pins or beads to metal rods in heat-conduction demonstrations.
Beyond experiments, the listing notes its use in crafts, candle making, canning, bottling and waterproofing, and around the workshop for lubricating nails, screws, doors and hinges so they move or drive in smoothly. Melt the wax gently over a water bath rather than a naked flame, because overheated wax can ignite, and never leave melting wax unattended. Let spills cool and harden before scraping them off the bench.
This paraffin wax is supplied by Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, which operates the ScienceLab brand from Ambala, Haryana. For vendor registration, the supplying company is Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited (CIN U29309HR2020PTC087597, GSTIN 06AAECJ8618A1ZT). Solution Fehling A (Product Code: SCL374/087) is the blue copper(II) sulfate half of Fehling’s reagent, used with Fehling B to test for reducing sugars and aldehydes in biology and chemistry laboratories. Teachers stock it in a 250 ml bottle of analytical reagent grade with an MSDS and pair it with Fehling B to make up a complete Fehling solution kit. It is supplied by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, India.
| Parameter | Detail |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 250 ml |
| Grade | Analytical reagent |
| Safety document | Supplied with MSDS |
| Shelf life | Shelf life depends on the chemical, its grade and storage conditions; ask us for the expiry date of the batch you are quoted. |
| Product code | SCL374/087 |
| Supplied by | Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, India |
Fehling A is never used on its own. Just before a test, equal volumes of Fehling A and Fehling B are mixed to give a deep blue solution, which is added to the sample in a test tube and heated in a boiling water bath. A reducing sugar such as glucose turns the mixture green, then yellow-orange, and finally a brick-red precipitate of copper(I) oxide forms, while sucrose stays blue unless it is first hydrolysed.
In chemistry, the same reaction separates aldehydes, which reduce the copper, from ketones, which generally do not. Copper salt solutions are harmful if swallowed and irritate eyes and skin, so wear goggles, heat tubes in a water bath rather than a direct flame, and dispose of copper-containing residues as the MSDS advises.
Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, trading as ScienceLab, supplies Solution Fehling A from Ambala, Haryana, as a sourced analytical reagent. Because both halves of the reagent are listed, a school can order Fehling A and Fehling B together with test tubes and a water bath from one supplier. See our company profile for more about the company.
A complete reducing-sugar test with Solution Fehling A needs:
See further reagents and apparatus in our Laboratory Equipment category.
What is Solution Fehling A?
Solution Fehling A (SCL374/087) is the copper(II) sulfate component of Fehling’s reagent. It is mixed with Solution Fehling B just before use to test for reducing sugars and aldehydes, giving a brick-red precipitate when the test is positive.
Do I need Fehling B as well as Solution Fehling A?
Yes. Solution Fehling A cannot perform the test on its own; it must be mixed with Fehling B, the alkaline tartrate solution, immediately before testing. Order both bottles together, usually in equal numbers, so your practical is not held up.
What size bottle is Solution Fehling A?
Solution Fehling A is supplied in a 250 ml bottle of analytical reagent grade, together with an MSDS. Tell us how many bottles each lab needs, and we can include matching Fehling B in the same quotation.
Why are Fehling A and B stored separately?
Solution Fehling A is kept apart from Fehling B because the mixed deep-blue reagent does not keep well. Storing the two solutions separately and mixing small volumes just before each test gives more reliable results in class.
What is the shelf life of Solution Fehling A?
The shelf life of Solution Fehling A depends on the chemical, its grade and storage conditions, so no fixed period is quoted. Ask us for the expiry date of the batch you are quoted, and keep the bottle capped and out of sunlight.
Who supplies Solution Fehling A?
Solution Fehling A is supplied by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, Haryana, India. The company sources food-test reagents and supplies them with glassware and heating apparatus to schools, colleges, dealers and importers in India and international markets.
