Human Spinal Cord Section Model (Product Code: SLE/A/93) is a cross section of the spinal cord at the level of the 5th cervical vertebra, enlarged to about 7x life size and set on a base. It shows the spinal nerves, the spinal ganglion and the blood vessels in their positions around the cord, giving students a clear three-dimensional view of a region they otherwise see only in diagrams and stained slides. It is used in neuroanatomy, physiology, physiotherapy and senior biology courses, and is made by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala.

This section model is ideal for explaining how a spinal nerve is formed and where sensory and motor information enters and leaves the cord. An instructor can point to the spinal ganglion to show where sensory cell bodies lie, follow the spinal nerves outwards, and use the blood vessels to discuss how the cord is supplied. Because the section is taken at a cervical level, it also helps when teaching why injuries in the neck region can affect the arms as well as the body below.
Physiotherapy and nursing students use it to understand reflex arcs and the effects of spinal cord injury, while biology students use it to connect the reflex arc diagram in their textbook to real anatomy. For departments building up biology lab equipment for a neuroscience unit, it bridges the gap between a whole spine model and microscope slides of nerve tissue.
Our company, Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, makes this spinal cord section in Ambala, Haryana and trades under the ScienceLab name. To see what else we make and how we work with institutions, visit the company profile.
