Typical Use

A first lesson usually has groups light a single MES bulb from a battery holder, then add a second bulb in series and in parallel and compare the brightness. Swapping the bulb for a buzzer or motor shows that the same circuit can produce light, sound or movement, and fitting a push-fit pulley to a motor shaft leads into simple spinning models. The red push-to-make and black push-to-break switches let pupils design doorbell and alarm circuits and explain why each switch type suits its job. Cutting lengths from the red and black multicore reels and fixing them in the connector strips with the small screwdrivers teaches neat, colour-coded wiring.

The wire stripper/cutter and screwdrivers are best handled by the teacher or under close supervision. Dry cells are not in the contents list, so order HP11 (C-size) or PP3 batteries to suit the holders and snaps you plan to use, and remove cells before the box goes back into storage.
