Phenolphthalein Solution (Product Code: SCL386/093) is an acid–base indicator solution used to detect the end point of titrations and to show whether a solution is alkaline in school, college and university chemistry labs. It is supplied in a 100 ml bottle of analytical reagent grade with an MSDS, a convenient size for a titration kit in schools. It is supplied by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, India.

Phenolphthalein is colourless in acidic and neutral solutions and turns pink to magenta in alkaline ones. In a typical titration, two or three drops are added to the acid in a conical flask, and sodium hydroxide from a burette is run in until the first permanent faint pink appears – the end point. It suits titrations of strong or weak acids against strong bases, such as hydrochloric, acetic or oxalic acid with sodium hydroxide.
Outside titration, a drop on a freshly broken concrete surface shows how far carbonation has penetrated, and colour-change demonstrations use it to turn a clear liquid pink with a base. Indicator solutions of this kind are commonly prepared in alcohol, so keep the bottle away from flames, close it after use to limit evaporation and wear eye protection. Keep it with the other bottles of your acid base indicator kit.
Phenolphthalein Solution is a sourced indicator supplied by Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, which uses the trading name ScienceLab in Ambala, Haryana. We supply it with burettes, pipettes, conical flasks and standard reagents, so a complete titration bench can be quoted together. Visit the company profile page for more about us.

What is Phenolphthalein Solution used for?
Phenolphthalein Solution (SCL386/093) is an acid–base indicator used to find the end point in titrations and to show whether a solution is alkaline. It turns from colourless to pink as a solution becomes alkaline, a change students can see easily.
What colour change does Phenolphthalein Solution show?
Phenolphthalein Solution stays colourless in acidic and neutral solutions and turns pink to magenta in alkaline solutions. In a titration, the first faint pink colour that lasts after swirling the flask marks the end point.
How much Phenolphthalein Solution is in one bottle?
One bottle of Phenolphthalein Solution holds 100 ml of analytical reagent grade indicator and is supplied with an MSDS. Only a few drops are used per titration, so tell us how many student benches you equip and we will suggest a quantity.
Which titrations is Phenolphthalein Solution suitable for?
Phenolphthalein Solution suits titrations of strong or weak acids with strong bases, such as hydrochloric, acetic or oxalic acid against sodium hydroxide. For weak base and strong acid titrations, an indicator such as methyl orange is usually chosen instead.
What is the shelf life of Phenolphthalein Solution?
The shelf life of Phenolphthalein Solution depends on the chemical, its grade and storage conditions, so a fixed period is not quoted. Ask us for the expiry date of the batch you are quoted, and keep the bottle tightly closed.
Who supplies Phenolphthalein Solution?
Phenolphthalein Solution is supplied by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, Haryana, India. The company sources indicators and reagents and supplies them with titration glassware to schools, colleges, dealers and importers in India and international markets.
