Leslie Cube (Product Code: SCI-1377/025) is a metal radiation cube used to demonstrate heat transfer by radiation — absorption, emission and reflection — in school and college physics laboratories. Its faces are painted in different colours, black, white and silver, so students can compare how surface finish changes the heat radiated from one hot source. It is made by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), an OEM manufacturer, at its own factory in Ambala, India.

The Leslie cube goes back to John Leslie's early experiments on radiant heat, and it remains the simplest way to prove that two surfaces at the same temperature can radiate very differently. The cube is normally filled with hot water so every face is equally hot, then a radiation detector or thermometer held near each face shows which colour gives off the most heat. Dark surfaces emit and absorb radiation strongly, while bright silver surfaces reflect it and emit much less.
Keep the detector at the same distance from every face and give readings a moment to settle before recording them. The same colour comparison leads naturally into a discussion of why good emitters are also good absorbers, so one cube covers all three processes in a radiation experiment kit.
Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, trading as ScienceLab, is the original equipment manufacturer of this Leslie cube. The metal cube and its painted finishes come from the company's own licensed factory at Saha, Ambala, Haryana, so physics departments, dealers and importers receive it straight from the maker. Further cubes for extra student groups, or matching heat apparatus, can be quoted by the manufacturer on request. Our company profile.

What does the Leslie Cube demonstrate?
The Leslie Cube demonstrates heat transfer by radiation, covering absorption, emission and reflection. Because all its faces share the same temperature, any difference in the heat detected from each face comes from the surface colour and finish rather than from temperature.
What colours are the faces of the Leslie Cube?
The Leslie Cube is a metal cube painted in different colours: black, white and silver. Comparing these finishes side by side shows students that dark surfaces radiate strongly while shiny silver surfaces reflect more and radiate less.
How is the Leslie Cube used in a practical?
To use the Leslie Cube, fill it with hot water, taking care not to touch the hot faces, wait for the faces to warm evenly, then hold a detector or thermometer the same distance from each face in turn. Record the readings and rank the colours by how much heat they radiate.
Is a radiation detector supplied with the Leslie Cube?
A detector is not listed with the Leslie Cube, which is supplied as the painted metal cube itself. Please tell us what measuring equipment your lab already has, and we can suggest suitable thermometers or radiation apparatus to add to the quotation.
Who manufactures the Leslie Cube?
The Leslie Cube is manufactured by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), the OEM, at its own licensed factory in Saha, Ambala, Haryana, India. Buyers get quotations from the manufacturer directly, with no trader in between.
