Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric
Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric (Product Code: SLE/B/08) is a hand-held spark igniter used to light Bunsen and other laboratory gas burners without matches, flint or fuel. A small self-contained generator inside produces a burst of 6 to 8 electrical sparks at 20 kV each time it is operated, and it needs no batteries or refills. Chemistry teachers and lab assistants use it to keep loose matches off student benches. It is supplied by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, India.

What Is the Piezo Electric Gas Lighter Used For?
To light a burner, close its air regulator, open the gas tap a little, hold the lighter tip just beside the top of the burner tube and operate it; the burst of sparks ignites the gas, after which the air supply can be opened for a blue working flame. One lighter per bench or group keeps the start of a practical quick and avoids a clutter of spent matchsticks.
It suits Bunsen burner practicals in schools and colleges where many burners are lit at once. Keep the tip clean and dry for reliable sparking, withdraw the lighter as soon as the flame catches rather than holding it in the heat, and store it with the other bench accessories so students do not treat it as a toy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric need batteries or refills?
No. The Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric makes its sparks with a small self-contained generator, so it needs no batteries, no fuel refills and no flint. That keeps running costs and bench clutter to a minimum in a busy teaching laboratory.
How strong is the spark from the piezo gas lighter?
Each operation of the Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric (SLE/B/08) produces a burst of 6 to 8 electrical sparks at 20 kV. That burst is what ignites the gas stream at the mouth of a Bunsen or similar laboratory burner.
Which burners can the Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric light?
The Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric lights gas burners such as Bunsen, Tirrill, Meker and Teclu types, provided gas is flowing. For wick-type alcohol lamps and candles, a flame lighter such as our Butane Lighter is the more practical choice.
Is the piezo gas lighter suitable for student use?
The Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric carries no fuel and makes no open flame of its own, which removes matches from the bench. Students should still be supervised and should point the tip only at the burner, never at people or electronic equipment.
What if the Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric stops sparking reliably?
First wipe the tip of the Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric clean and make sure it is completely dry, then try again at the burner. If it still fails to spark, contact us through the contact page with your order details.
Who supplies the Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric?
Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd, trading as ScienceLab, Ambala, India, supplies the Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric as an accessory to its burner range. Schools, colleges and dealers in India and international markets can order it with burners and tubing.
What should an institutional enquiry for piezo lighters include?
For the Gas Lighter, Piezo Electric, state the number of lighters, whether burners and tubing are needed too, and the delivery address in India or overseas. Send the details through the contact page or add the items to the enquiry cart.
