Typical Use
Every ELISA has several points where unbound sample, conjugate or substrate must be removed from the wells before the next reagent goes in, and incomplete washing is a leading cause of high background and false positives. With this washer, the user selects a stored protocol by its assay name, places the plate or strip holder on the carrier, and the instrument runs the programmed number of cycles, dispensing between 25 and 3000ul per well, soaking for the set time and aspirating again. For flat-bottom plates, crosswise or double aspiration pulls out more of the remaining liquid than a single central pass.
Gentler flow rates at the lower end of the 150 to 1000ul/well/second range help keep cell monolayers attached in cellular assays. Prime the lines with wash solution at the start of a session, run the rinse bottle through the manifold at the end of the day so salt does not crystallise in the pins, and empty the waste bottle as potentially infectious material. Keep the dust cover on when the washer is idle.
