Squeeze the teat before dipping the pipette into the liquid, never after, so no air is blown through the solution. Return the pipette to its own bottle straight away to avoid mixing reagents, keep the ground neck clean so the fit stays snug, and replace the rubber teat when it hardens or cracks.
