Apparatus for Photosynthesis (Product Code: SCL102/1.1) is a panel-mounted apparatus for measuring and collecting the gas given off by aquatic plants during photosynthesis. The gas collects in a calibrated capillary tube, where its volume is read, and can then be drawn off with plastic syringes for further testing. Biology teachers use it as a quantitative photosynthesis experiment kit India schools and colleges can run at the bench. It is made by Jain Scientific Equipments Pvt Ltd (ScienceLab), Ambala, India.

Place a healthy sprig of pondweed in water in the apparatus, allow it to settle in the light, and then measure how far the gas bubble moves along the calibrated capillary tube in a fixed time. Repeating the reading with the lamp at different distances, with coloured filters, or with water at different temperatures turns the apparatus into a proper rate investigation, giving students real data to graph instead of bubble counts.
Once enough gas has collected, draw it off with one of the plastic syringes to test it, for example with a glowing splint. As a piece of plant biology lab equipment it also supports discussion of limiting factors and experimental control: keep the plant, water volume and timing the same, change one factor at a time, and let the plant re-acclimatise for a few minutes after each change before taking readings.
The apparatus is manufactured by Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited, a science-education company in Ambala, Haryana, that trades under the ScienceLab name. Jain Scientific Equipments Private Limited is registered as an MSME manufacturing enterprise (UDYAM-HR-01-0003714) and holds Importer-Exporter Code AAECJ8618A for international consignments. How is the gas volume measured?
The gas collects in a calibrated capillary tube, so students read the volume directly from the scale rather than counting bubbles.
Can the collected gas be tested?
Yes. The plastic syringes are used to draw off the gas for analysis, such as a simple test for oxygen.
Is the plant material supplied?
Plant material is not listed with the apparatus. Use fresh pondweed or another submerged aquatic plant obtained locally for each practical.
How big is the apparatus?
The listed sizes are approximately 7.5" wide by 6" tall for the apparatus (about 7" overall height), vessels of about 1" diameter, and a stand approximately 4.75" tall, 8.5" wide and 4.5" long.
How should the apparatus be cleaned after use?
Empty and rinse the vessels and capillary with clean water, flush the syringes, and let all parts dry before storage to prevent algae growth.
Do you supply it to schools abroad?
Yes. Quote the product code SCL102/1.1 and the quantity; we supply institutions across India and international markets.
